Baseball Is Back!

We went with our neighbor Juan, pictured above, to watch the Rangers face off with the Diablos Rojos de Mexico in an exhibition game three days before Opening Day. It was fun to be back in the ballpark, but it was even more fun watching Juan enjoy his first trip ever to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

So this is what a socialist looks like...

"Hey Jeff, this is Gerry from the Dallas Morning News. How would you like to photograph a couple of socialists in Rowlett tomorrow?"

This is why I enjoy daily photojournalism so much. You just never know. It was very interesting listening in on the conversation between columnist Steve Blow and these two local socialist leaders. And I even got to follow up with some friendly conversation with Alex Mendoza, the guy on the right, as we were packing it up. I bet I'm the only person I know who has had a one-on-one conversation about politics and worldview with an actual vice-presidential candidate.

It was a little hard to try to visually represent socialism in a suburban home, but that challenge was just another thing that made me enjoy this assignment.
