Target
This is why I always try to carry my camera with me. It's also my best attempt at harnessing the power of Rob Strong.
Salvation Army Bell Ringers
I shot and edited this piece for You Plus Dallas. It was a privilege getting to know these joyful people. It was also my first experiment with stop-motion.

Johnny Calvin Brewer
I got the opportunity to shoot my first assignment for the Associated Press on November 22, 2011, the 48th anniversary of JFK's assassination in Dallas. Johnny Calvin Brewer, who led police to the hiding place of JFK's assassin Lee Harvey Oswald in the Texas Theatre, was honored by Dallas Police Chief David O. Brown with a Citizen's Certificate of Merit at the Texas Theatre. The bottom photo shows the row where Oswald was sitting when he was apprehended.

My father, the actor
For the past few years, my dad, Tom McWhorter, has been performing sections of a one-man play he has written. In the play, my dad portrays various characters from the Bible, such as Adam, Moses, David and Abraham, bringing to life the story of Christ revealed in the Old Testament. On November 18, he performed for a small crowd in an outdoor amphitheater in Dallas, Texas.

Omni Dallas & H.I.S. BridgeBuilders
The new Omni Hotel in downtown Dallas, which was partially funded by the City of Dallas, partnered with H.I.S. BridgeBuilders, a Christian community development ministry in West Dallas, to hire traditionally unemployed or underemployed people who had been through the H.I.S. BridgeBuilders job training program.

"Wild" Horses in the Trinity River Basin: Behind the Scenes
On Friday, November 4, 2011, all of us from You Plus Dallas woke up really early to go shoot 14 horses charging as one through the Trinity River basin at exactly the moment the sun rose over the shimmering Dallas skyline. My job was to capture the "behind the scenes" story. As you might imagine, things did not go exactly as planned, and I ended up becoming another shooter to try to help get "the shot," but thanks to the brilliant leadership of Brandon Carmichael and jubilant screams of Reid Slaughter, I still came away with a pretty funny "behind the scenes" piece. Also of note - both my feet and my dog were very excited to make their appearance in a You Plus Dallas video.
